Signicat: 79% of financial institutions ready for AI agents, but only 14% of consumers comfortable

According to Signicat's survey, the issue is not anti-AI sentiment: 65% of respondents find AI's help valuable as long as control remains with them.

Wary of letting AI sign them up — Signicat: 79% of financial institutions ready for AI agents, but only 14% of consumers comfortable. A start button in front of a heavy, locked safe pulls back as a finger reaches toward it.

What's happening

According to Relation Client Magazine, Signicat's research shows that 79% of financial institutions in Europe are ready to process product applications initiated by AI agents. By contrast, only 14% of consumers are comfortable with AI taking out a financial product on their behalf. When it comes to personal data security, 44% of consumers trust financial institutions, compared with 23% who trust AI providers.

Whose desk it lands on

The executive in charge of digital channels. With customers not yet comfortable with AI submitting applications on their behalf, should the investment in preparing for agent-initiated applications be made now, or after trust is earned?

Our view

The CX Brief's interpretation, not a claim made by the source.

Financial institutions are ready; customers will decide. The obstacle to agent-initiated applications is not technical; it is trust. And that is where banks have the advantage: on data security, consumers trust financial institutions much more than AI providers.
