Snap appoints Robert Downey Jr. honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer for SPECS
Known for many major roles including Marvel's Tony Stark, the actor will show people what the see-through glasses can do; Snap did not disclose the terms of the deal.

What's happening
According to TNW's augmented reality coverage, Snap announced that it has brought in Robert Downey Jr. as honorary CXO for SPECS, its AR glasses business. Snap had opened pre-orders for the SPECS glasses as a consumer product in June, priced at $2,195, with shipping expected this fall.
Whose desk it lands on
The product marketing executive. How will you compare the experience a famous face describes with the one early users have?
Our view
The CX Brief's interpretation, not a claim made by the source.
Though the title evokes customer experience, Downey Jr.'s role is to showcase what the glasses can do. Yet one of the world's most famous actors is being given a corporate title, honorary or not—and it is Chief Customer Experience Officer! This is a great opportunity to draw attention to the world of customer experience and its roles. I have no doubt that world-renowned customer experience professionals will produce creative work to make this news go viral!
