What's happening

According to Opus Research, Cisco has announced Dialog, a new software layer for its Webex AI Agent platform that takes customer service AI beyond individual conversations. Vinod Muthukrishnan, general manager of Webex Customer Experience at Cisco, says work that begins during or after a conversation can continue for hours, days, weeks, and months. Design partner GetixHealth cut dropped-call complaints by 70% by moving from its legacy systems to Webex Contact Center.

Whose desk it lands on

The contact center leader. Once your agent has started a return or compensation process and the conversation ends, where can you currently see who owns the work?

Our view

The CX Brief's interpretation, not a claim made by the source.

What Dialog is selling is not better conversation but getting the job done. As Opus Research points out, answering a question or identifying an intent is not the same as completing the work that follows. Measuring agent products against that standard tells you more than judging how well they converse in a demo.
