2026 Adobe AI and Digital Trends Report

We are living through a period in which customer experience has gone from being merely a matter of technology infrastructure to an entirely strategic battle for survival. In an ever-evolving technology landscape, quickly grasping new approaches is no longer optional; it has become essential to protecting and growing market share.

The AI and Digital Trends Report recently published by Adobe offers rich insights into the dynamics of this shift and how organizations should structure their own internal processes. For companies, adopting next-generation technologies with an approach driven not only by cost but also by value is emerging as the surest way to meet customer expectations.

One of the most critical findings in the report, and a warning for experience professionals, is that audiences’ attention spans have shrunk dramatically. Among customers, 50% say they give brands only two to five seconds to capture their interest with the promotional content, ads or social media posts they come across. Capturing customers’ attention in such a narrow window is possible only with a highly personalized, sharply targeted content strategy that speaks directly to the need of the moment. Even more striking, 45% of customers say they will stop engaging with a brand if it sends them too many promotional messages, no matter how personalized the content is. The fact that over-communication ends up punishing the brand instead of nurturing loyalty proves just how vital it is to deliver the right message at the right time.

To meet this expectation of personalization, companies need a strong data infrastructure. Generative AI is already delivering improvements in many areas, from content volume to employee productivity, but the report also makes it clear that companies are still struggling with data readiness and quality.

Fewer than half of organizations, just 44%, consider their data quality and accessibility sufficient for AI, a sign that fundamental problems have yet to be solved. The appetite for investing in advanced systems may be high, but without clean, integrated data, it is impossible for these systems to create meaningful value for customers.

Another important issue is internal alignment and diverging visions. The disconnect between executives and the employees who run operations directly affects the success of projects. Given how high organizations’ expectations of agentic AI are, this gap in vision becomes even more critical.

The leading cause of this misalignment between executives and practitioners is executives’ misunderstanding of AI, cited by 61%. Executives’ tendency to view the issue solely through the lens of cost savings and efficiency is at odds with the efforts of frontline, customer-facing teams to create personalized experiences.

As we often observe in our work at Nord CX, brands that position technology solely as a way to cut costs put customer loyalty at risk in the long run. The real winners of this new era will be the brands that support the human touch with technology, keep their data clean and rally around a shared experience vision across the organization.
